Do, or do not - there is no try.
I'm not really a big Star Wars fan, but I must say, I love this quote by Yoda! Self belief in achieving your goals, whatever they are, is so important.
Don't say "I'm going to try to lose weight/get fit/be healthier". Don't give yourself an excuse not to succeed. Be utterly single minded in your determination. "I AM going to lose weight/get fit/be healthier". Sounds so much stronger doesn't it!
Apply this to any goal you have. Say it to yourself over and over. Make it your morning mantra. Look yourself in the eye and repeat out loud "I am going to ... (Insert your dream here).
I've been reading an incredible book recently. In it, the author talks about the language we use, and how we should aim to eliminate certain words from our vocabulary. I found it so inspirational that I would really love to share a little of it with you.
1. Should. "I should go to the gym". Really? If you say this, I expect you already know you're not going. You're just saying it to ease the guilt you feel. Do it, or don't do it, stop procrastinating!
2.Like 3.But. "I would like to lose some weight but..." Sounds as if you're not really trying. As Yoda says - Do, or do not - there is no try. Make a decision, stick to it. No excuses. If you decided not to purse something, don't moan about it afterwards. What's the point?
It might sound tough, but it's so true. You have the strength within you to achieve anything you want, you just need to believe you can, and make the choice to succeed.
